SonoSpec Privacy Policy
- All audio is processed on your device — never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
- The SonoSpec app collects no data. No app analytics, tracking, ads, or third-party SDKs.
- No account is required — the app has no sign-in and no network access.
Data the app collects
None. SonoSpec does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, usage data, or audio. The Android app does not request network permission, and the iOS app contains no networking code — the app is technically incapable of sending data anywhere.
Microphone audio
SonoSpec requests microphone access solely to analyze the live signal and draw its frequency spectrum. Audio samples are processed in memory in real time and immediately discarded. Nothing is written to disk. The microphone is released whenever the app leaves the foreground.

Settings stored on your device
Your display preferences (view mode, weighting, FFT size, dB floor, frequency range) are saved locally on your device so the app opens the way you left it. They never leave your device.
Third-party services
The SonoSpec app uses no third-party services. Purchases are handled by the App Store or Google Play outside the app.
Public website analytics
On the public website only, we use Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine to count successful visits to the Home and Field Guide pages. Each event contains only the page's fixed name, a coarse referral category, an allowlisted source label, and Cloudflare's automatic timestamp. Referral reporting distinguishes direct visits, Google organic search, recognized AI assistants, and other sources. Recognized AI assistants may be reported by a fixed service name such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Poe, You.com, or Phind. Every unrecognized source is stored only as “other.”
We do not store page URLs or query strings, raw referrer URLs, referrer paths or queries, IP addresses, user-agent strings, cookies, location, visitor or session identifiers, form or support data, or any app/audio data in this analytics dataset. Support, Privacy, robots, asset, redirect, error, unknown, non-GET, and HEAD requests are not counted.
These aggregate counts are used only to understand whether the public product page and Field Guide are useful. They are not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking. Cloudflare retains Analytics Engine data for up to three months.
Children's privacy
SonoSpec does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13, and is suitable for all ages.
Purchases
SonoSpec is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare.
